Additionally, we also collaborate closely with the independent Renew Boston effort, and work to share best practices. In late 2011, EE2020 expects to expand its work to other Massachusetts cities; check back for details.
City Activities
Northampton Under the Northampton Leading the Way program, efforts to upgrade building energy efficiency are progressing on three fronts. The Center for EcoTechnology, working under a utility-funded grant, has begun “energy concierge” outreach to city business owners and landlords, and has started an intensive residential effort in the KV Homes neighborhood off Ryan Road in Florence. Additionally, by the end of 2011, the City of Northampton will have completed a $6.5 million capital improvement project that will reduce energy use in municipal and school buildings by more than 20% and will be paid for through energy savings - not taxpayer dollars.
Pittsfield Downtown businesses are first up in Pittsfield, where the Center for EcoTechnology is also working under a utility-funded grant, has launched an intensive effort to aid North Street businesses and building owners. A residential effort in the West Side and Morningside neighborhoods is also underway.
